Job Description:

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Gujarat Growth Accelerator

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

About Gujarat Growth Accelerator

The Gujarat Growth Accelerator (GGA), an initiative supported by The Convergence Foundation, is a new independent think-and-do tank dedicated to one purpose: accelerating Gujarat's long-term economic growth and job creation. Anchored to the vision of Viksit Gujarat 2047, GGA will work with the Government of Gujarat to identify, design and help drive high-impact economic reforms that raise productivity, exports, investment and incomes. Rather than recreating existing research, the organisation will build on the best ideas from leading think tanks, universities and practitioners, adapting them to Gujarat's context and translating them into actionable policy.

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional founding CEO to build and lead the Gujarat Growth Accelerator. The CEO will shape the institution's vision and priorities, recruit and mentor a high-calibre team of 5–7 professionals, build trusted relationships with senior government leaders and industry, and establish GGA as Gujarat's leading independent voice on economic growth policy. Success will be measured by policy impact and tangible improvements in Gujarat's growth trajectory and job creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic vision, agenda and annual priorities for GGA.
  • Build and lead an outstanding multidisciplinary team with a culture of analytical rigour, entrepreneurship and impact.
  • Develop evidence-based policy recommendations across manufacturing, exports, infrastructure, urbanisation, ease of doing business, skills, innovation, agriculture and services.
  • Build trusted relationships with the Chief Minister's Office, Chief Secretary, senior officials, industry leaders and ecosystem partners.
  • Translate analysis into implementable reforms and support government in advancing priority initiatives.
  • Partner extensively with leading think tanks, research institutions and universities, leveraging existing knowledge instead of duplicating it.
  • Build the organisation's credibility, governance, partnerships and long-term sustainability.
  • Represent GGA in public forums and with philanthropic, academic and industry stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Around 15–20 years of leadership experience in strategy consulting, public policy, government, economics, development, finance or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of economic growth, competitiveness, investment and job creation.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior decision-makers.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Economics, Public Policy, Management or a related field preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Deep understanding of economics and growth policy.
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills.
  • Gravitas and credibility to engage with senior political, bureaucratic and business leaders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a new institution from the ground up.
  • High integrity, judgement and commitment to public impact.

Success in the Role

Within 3–5 years, the CEO will have built a respected institution with a high-quality team, strong government partnerships and a track record of helping deliver meaningful policy reforms that improve Gujarat's growth trajectory, exports, investment and employment.
