Overview
A large tertiary care and trauma-focused hospital in Dallas is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse Manager to oversee operations within a high-volume Emergency Services department supporting adult and pediatric emergency patient populations.
This leadership role is responsible for departmental operations, staffing management, physician collaboration, quality improvement initiatives, patient throughput coordination, and operational performance across a fast-paced emergency care environment.
The ideal candidate has strong Emergency Department leadership experience, understands high-acuity emergency operations, and can effectively lead multidisciplinary teams while balancing patient care quality, operational efficiency, and staff engagement.
Emergency Department Overview
- 41 ED treatment rooms
- 16 hallway treatment spaces
- Approximately 35 FTEs
- Adult and pediatric emergency care environment
- Large tertiary and referral-based hospital setting
- High-acuity emergency patient population
- Multi-disciplinary emergency operations and physician collaboration focus
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Emergency Department operations, staffing coordination, and patient care delivery
- Lead nursing staff through mentoring, coaching, operational leadership, and performance management
- Collaborate with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize emergency department throughput and patient outcomes
- Support departmental budgeting, staffing productivity, and operational resource management
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and patient safety efforts
- Develop and implement operational policies, workflow improvements, and patient care initiatives
- Resolve operational, staffing, and patient care issues within the emergency department
- Coordinate multidisciplinary team activities across emergency services operations
- Maintain effective communication with staff, providers, patients, and executive leadership
Qualifications
Required
- Active Texas RN license or compact RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive Emergency Department leadership experience

Experience with:
- Staff supervision and operational leadership
- Budget preparation and resource management
- Physician relationship management
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Multi-disciplinary team coordination
- BLS certification
- Strong emergency operations and patient throughput management experience
Required Within Designated Timeframes
- ACLS and PALS within 6 months
- TNCC within 18 months
- ENPC or CEN within 18 months
Preferred
- Advanced nursing or healthcare leadership degree
- Leadership experience within large tertiary or trauma-focused emergency departments
- Pediatric emergency services exposure
