Overview

Lead trauma program operations at a 330-bed acute care hospital and Level III Trauma Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, serving southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. This Trauma Program Manager role develops, implements, and maintains a cost-effective trauma care system under the direction of the Trauma Medical Director. The position serves as liaison between the hospital, EMS providers, fire services, ambulance services, police, and state trauma authorities while coordinating American College of Surgeons trauma designation activities. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cost-effective trauma care system for patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Serve as primary liaison and resource between hospital and EMS providers, fire services, ambulance services, and police departments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with EMS Medical Director and New Hampshire state trauma authorities, serving on committees as appropriate.
  • Develop policies and procedures based on current best practices and State of New Hampshire trauma directives.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate all trauma patient care activities under direction of Trauma Medical Director.
  • Conduct concurrent monitoring and evaluation of trauma system plan through ongoing review of all trauma medical records.
  • Document reviews in trauma registry and identify corrective action plans as appropriate to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trauma care through research, conferences, self-study, and certification maintenance.
  • Coordinate preparation for statewide and American College of Surgeons trauma system designation site visits and surveys.
  • Respond to trauma team activations during work hours, providing guidance and monitoring quality of care delivery.
  • Assist Emergency Department physician director with resource hospital initiatives as needed.
  • Oversee, maintain, review, and ensure quality assurance and adherence to NH TEMSIS computerized Patient Care Reporting system for all services and patients transported to facility.
  • Ensure compliance with criteria and guidelines set forth by Medical Director of Emergency Services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize trauma care delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives based on trauma registry data analysis and outcome metrics.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program
  • Current New Hampshire RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
  • Minimum 3 years of recent acute care experience caring for trauma patients
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • Strong clinical expertise in trauma care and emergency nursing
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with EMS, state authorities, and hospital leadership

Preferred:

  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification
  • Experience with American College of Surgeons trauma verification processes
  • Background in trauma registry management and data analysis
  • Previous trauma program coordination or leadership experience
