Compensation: $45.79 – $68.00/hour

Overview
A high-volume Level IV NICU in Houston is seeking experienced NICU Nurse Managers to support a rapidly growing women's and neonatal services program. This leadership opportunity oversees clinical operations, staff development, patient care quality, and operational performance within one of the region's busiest neonatal intensive care environments.
The ideal candidate has strong acute care NICU leadership experience within a Level III or Level IV setting and is comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams across evening, night, weekend, and on-call operations.
This role is well-suited for experienced NICU Charge Nurses or Nurse Leaders seeking advancement into broader operational leadership within high-acuity neonatal services.
Unit & Leadership Overview
- Level IV NICU
- 30-bed NICU unit
- Oversees approximately 20–35 FTEs across shifts
- High-volume women's and neonatal services environment
- Department growth and expansion-driven opening
- Position open approximately 180 days due to hiring demand and unit growth
Responsibilities
- Assist departmental leadership with operational oversight, staffing coordination, and strategic unit initiatives
- Support nursing staff through clinical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and performance development
- Ensure patient care delivery aligns with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based neonatal practices
- Coordinate departmental participation in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational performance metrics
- Collaborate with physicians, neonatal specialists, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Support staffing management, scheduling coordination, and workflow optimization across NICU operations
- Participate in weekend rotation and leadership on-call responsibilities
Qualifications
Required
- Active Texas RN license or compact RN license with Texas licensure obtained within 60 days
- BSN required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care NICU experience
- Recent Level III or Level IV NICU leadership experience within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of management or NICU Charge Nurse experience
- Current BLS certification
Preferred
- Previous leadership experience within high-volume women's or neonatal hospitals
- Experience managing staffing, throughput, and neonatal quality initiatives
- Strong team leadership and change management skills
