We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in San Jose, California. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, providing expertise on a variety of projects including infrastructure, commercial, residential, and environmental developments. The role involves leading geotechnical investigations, managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with clients to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership:

    • Manage and oversee geotechnical engineering projects from conception to completion.
    • Provide technical guidance and oversight on complex geotechnical designs and solutions.
  • Geotechnical Investigations:

    • Plan, execute, and interpret geotechnical field investigations.
    • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to develop geotechnical recommendations.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and engineering calculations.
    • Develop foundation designs, earth retention systems, slope stability analyses, and ground improvement methods.
    • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Client Interaction:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and project success.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and environmental engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a focus on design and project management.
    • Experience working in the San Jose area or similar geotechnical environments is highly desirable.
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; California PE or ability to obtain it within 6 months preferred.
    • Geotechnical Engineer (GE) certification is a strong plus.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE, gINT).
    • Strong understanding of California-specific building codes and geotechnical standards.
  • Other Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
