About the job Field Engineer II
Terrelonge Staffing Solutions is seeking a Construction Field Engineer for our client, a leading civil and structural construction firm. This role reports directly to the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Project Superintendent, overseeing day-to-day field activities to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Supervision & Coordination:
- Manage daily field activities, ensuring projects progress safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, vendors, and on-site personnel.
- Ensure all work aligns with design specifications, local codes, and quality standards.
2. Technical Support:
- Provide technical guidance on construction methods, materials, and designs.
- Review drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure proper implementation.
- Prepare project submittals, work schedules, and detailed work plans while monitoring progress.
3. Quality Control & Safety:
- Conduct regular site inspections to uphold quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proactively address hazards.
4. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, material usage, and personnel attendance.
- Prepare reports detailing project updates, issues, and delays.
- Document work orders, changes, and variations from original plans.
5. Communication & Problem-Solving:
- Act as the liaison between field operations and the project office.
- Collaborate with engineers and contractors to mitigate delays or issues.
6. Material & Equipment Management:
- Ensure proper inventory and equipment management on-site.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely material deliveries.
7. Progress Monitoring:
- Track overall project timelines and flag deviations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of project schedules.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2-4 years of experience in construction or a related engineering role.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials procurement, and safety standards.
Proficiency in construction software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Valid drivers license with a clean record.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with concrete and steel structures.
Familiarity with construction project management software (P6, Procore, Buildertrend, HCSS, etc.).
Certification in safety management (OSHA 10/30, etc.).
Experience working with public entity standard plans and specifications (Caltrans, USACE, etc.).
