Job Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Project Manager with a strong background in transportation and natural resource engineering projects. This role involves managing project design, overseeing construction phases, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and experienced in both technical and client-facing aspects of engineering project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage transportation and natural resource engineering projects from planning through to completion. Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal goals.
  • Design & Technical Documentation: Develop and review engineering designs and prepare associated documentation using computer-assisted engineering and design software. Create and review construction documents and specifications to support project needs.
  • NEPA Permitting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of NEPA permits, ensuring compliance with all environmental requirements and guidelines.
  • Report Writing: Draft detailed engineering reports, technical specifications, and correspondence for a range of audiences, including clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
  • Construction Management & Observation: Supervise construction management activities, including field observations, to ensure projects are executed as planned. Address and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with government agencies, client teams, suppliers, contractors, and internal engineering staff to gather design information, secure approvals, and facilitate seamless project progress.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor internal technical teams, driving efficiency and maintaining a focus on project profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing transportation or natural resource projects.
  • Professional Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Montana, Idaho, Washington, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of employment.
  • Project Oversight Skills: Proven ability to oversee multiple projects, ensuring they meet scope, time, and budget goals. Familiarity with creating and managing construction documents and specifications is essential.
  • Independent and Team Work: Demonstrated ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Able to provide constructive feedback and guidance to team members.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and project management practices.
