Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Project Engineer to join our client's team in their downtown Roanoke, VA office. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including educational, civic, arts, and commercial buildings, with a primary focus on designing HVAC systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC System Design: Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for a variety of building types, ensuring efficient, effective, and sustainable solutions tailored to each project's specific needs.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to junior engineers and staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused work environment.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and scope to ensure projects are completed within the defined parameters. This includes coordinating with other disciplines, managing resources, and addressing any issues that arise during the design and implementation phases.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that HVAC designs meet all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, maintaining a high standard of quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Education and Licensure: Licensed Mechanical Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Experience: 7-10 years of professional experience in HVAC design, preferably with experience in educational, civic, arts, and commercial buildings.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design load calculations and energy modeling software, such as Trace and ComCheck.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for project documentation and communication.
- Experience with REVIT is preferred, with the ability to contribute to the development of detailed mechanical system designs.
