About the job Data Warehouse & Data Specialist
We seek a highly motivated Data Warehouse & Data Specialist to join our client's Data Engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our enterprise Data Warehouse, drive performance optimizations, and enable data-driven decision-making across the bank. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, data scientists, and IT operations to design, develop, and maintain reliable, high-quality data solutions in a regulated financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Ingestion & ETL
Orchestrate and monitor daily data loads into the Enterprise Data Warehouse using SSIS and Azure Data Factory, ensuring data quality, lineage, and error-free processing.
Data Modeling & Cubes
Design, build, and optimize SSAS Tabular and Multidimensional models; develop advanced DAX/MDX measures and time intelligence calculations for self-service analytics.
Performance Tuning
Analyze execution plans and implement indexing, partitioning, and compression strategies to optimize query performance for both OLTP and OLAP workloads.
Cloud Migration
Led the phased migration of on-premises datasets to Azure Fabric and Azure Synapse Analytics, defining data governance, security policies, and cost control best practices.
Reporting & Insights
Develop adhoc and scheduled reports using Power BI and SSRS; partner with business owners to translate requirements into intuitive dashboards and data visualizations.
Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to propose and implement enhancements to Data Warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and the overall data governance framework.
Documentation & Governance
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, FINMA).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience managing enterprise Data Warehouses in a banking or financial services environment.
- Advanced expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+)TSQL, query tuning, indexing, and partitioning.
- Strong proficiency in SSAS (Tabular & Multidimensional), SSIS, and Azure Data Factory.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Fabric, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Fluent in French and English; professional proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Power BI development: advanced DAX, performance optimization, rowlevel security.
- Experience with Python or R for data preparation, statistical analysis, or automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), Git version control, and Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Terraform).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, data governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance in finance.
