ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a visionary leader to define our technological direction and elevate the organisation to a higher level of technical maturity. The successful candidate will be a genuine technology enthusiast who remains current with emerging trends, evaluates new solutions, and advocates for the strategic application of artificial intelligence.

The ideal candidate recognises that technology must serve a clear business purpose. Candidates must be capable of translating technological capability into tangible business value, including accelerated development cycles, elevated quality standards, improved predictability, and reliable project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Technology Leadership

  • Define the tools supporting the development pipeline, build systems, asset management, and publishing processes
  • Establish standards governing code, architecture, and system integration
  • Evaluate investment priorities in internal tooling, automation, AI, and emerging technologies
  • Determine "build versus buy" strategy across internal development and external implementation

Game Production Support

  • Ensure the engine, tools, and pipeline align with design, art, QA, and the broader creative vision
  • Ensure tooling enables consistent delivery of high-quality content
  • Resolve performance, build, and integration issues at a systemic level
  • Ensure technology decisions remain consistent with budgetary and production constraints

Technical Team Leadership

  • Oversee the growth, organisational structure, and strategic direction of technical departments

Technical Quality & Risk Management

  • Identify risk at an early stage, including technical debt, unrealistic technological commitments, overly complex pipelines, key-person dependencies, and outdated processes
  • Provide an authoritative assessment of whether a given technological approach, timeline, and team are sufficient to deliver on stated objectives

Business & Production Planning

  • Translate creative vision into actionable technical, organisational, and financial decisions
  • Determine staffing requirements and necessary competencies (hiring vs. internal upskilling)
  • Identify areas where technology can provide a competitive advantage

Organizational Scaling

  • Develop shared frameworks and systems
  • Standardise pipelines across the studio
  • Facilitate technical knowledge transfer between teams
  • Maintain high-quality documentation
  • Drive the long-term evolution of the organisation's technological environment

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in a comparable leadership role (e.g., Technology Director, Chief Technology Officer)
  • Experience defining technology roadmaps for teams or studio-wide initiatives
  • At least one AA+ or AAA title shipped
  • Demonstrated track record of effective collaboration with production, leadership, and technical teams
  • Ability to make technical decisions grounded in sound business reasoning
  • Strong practical command of modern tools, automation, and AI-driven workflows

Language Requirements
