Job Openings Senior Compliance/AML Officer

About the job Senior Compliance/AML Officer

About the Role:

Two new senior hires for a Global Compliance team running four license applications in parallel, EU and UK among them, alongside its existing regulated operations. You will own substantive licensing and regulatory documents from first draft to regulator-ready, run the document and evidence plan for an assigned workstream, and track that what was committed to the regulator works in practice.

This is a hands-on senior role reporting to the Global Chief Compliance Officer, with cross-cover between the two hires. You will work daily with Compliance and AML colleagues and regularly with Legal, Product, Operations, Finance, Risk, Security, external counsel and licensing consultants. It is not a KYC or transaction-monitoring queue role. The title does not imply a statutory MLRO or controlled-function appointment.

What You'll Do:

  • Draft and own substantive regulatory documents: AML/CFT and sanctions frameworks, business-wide risk assessments, policies and procedures, programs of operations, business plans, and safeguarding, governance and outsourcing narratives
  • Build regulatory requirement matrices and application document maps; own the evidence room
  • Coordinate RFIs and comments from regulators, external counsel and consultants through to resolution
  • Run gap analyses, thematic reviews and risk assessments, and coordinate remediation of findings and compliance breaches
  • Advise on new products, partners, jurisdictions, outsourcing arrangements and changes to the business model
  • Handle complex AML, sanctions, CDD/KYB and transaction-monitoring escalations
  • Track post-submission commitments and test that documented controls operate in practice
  • Monitor regulatory change and turn it into practical updates to policies, processes and controls
  • Support regulatory reporting, notifications, audits and inspections
  • Provide compliance guidance and training to the business

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in regulatory compliance, including 3+ in regulated payments, e-money, crypto or a comparable fintech environment. Traditional-finance backgrounds are considered only with recent, hands-on authorisation and policy-drafting experience
  • Hands-on with at least one authorization framework: UK EMI/payment services, UK MLR cryptoasset registration, EEA EMI/PI, MiCA CASP or Jersey VASP
  • Personal authorship of substantive regulatory documents: you can say exactly what you drafted, how comments were resolved, and what the regulator challenged
  • A practical understanding of the EMI/PI, CASP/VASP and AML-registration perimeters
  • Ability to work through primary legislation and regulatory guidance independently; working knowledge of AMLD/FATF standards, sanctions, outsourcing and governance
  • Hands-on experience with Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage, Scorechain, Fireblocks or equivalent tools, and an understanding of how transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, blockchain analytics and case-management controls are designed and evidenced
  • Fluent professional English with excellent written drafting
  • Ability to work independently with at least four hours' overlap with the European working day; occasional travel to the EU HQ
  • Ability to pass background screening; right to work from an approved European location

Nice to Have:

  • A license application taken through submission, RFI and decision
  • Ongoing compliance experience inside an authorized EMI, PI, CASP or VASP
  • Experience in a business combining crypto and payment services across B2C and B2B
  • A regulator, regulatory consultancy or law-firm background combined with in-house implementation
  • DORA, operational resilience, data protection, safeguarding and regulatory reporting
  • A degree in law, finance, economics or risk/compliance; CAMS, ICA, CGSS or comparable

Why Join?

  • Four license applications live at once: you own real authorization work from the first month
  • Your drafts go straight into regulator-facing submissions, working directly with the Global Chief Compliance Officer
  • A self-funded, profitable fintech at the intersection of crypto and traditional payments, authorized under MiCA and PSD2 in the EU
  • Short, structured onboarding on the company's products, systems and licenses
  • A fast process: technical feedback within 24 hours, final decision within 48 hours of the last stage
