Duration: 1+ Year Contract (09/30/2026 - 09/29/2027)
Schedule: Part-Time, 20 Hours per Week
Compensation: $35-45/hour

Tech Partners is currently recruiting for an experienced AS400 Developer / Administrator to support a long-term technology initiative with a State of Oklahoma agency. This role is ideal for a professional who combines hands-on IBM i development expertise with platform administration and production support experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and support applications on the IBM i (AS400/iSeries) platform
- Design, modify, and troubleshoot RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPGLE, CL, and SQL programs
- Support DB2 for i databases, including querying, optimization, and performance tuning
- Administer IBM i environments, including job queues, subsystems, and system monitoring
- Manage user profiles, security settings, and object-level authorities
- Troubleshoot production issues, batch jobs, and application support incidents
- Maintain and automate file transfers utilizing SFTP and FTP processes
- Coordinate with hosting and managed service providers as needed
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities
- Assist with database extraction, cleanup, archival, and data maintenance efforts
- Create and maintain technical documentation, application dependencies, and system workflows
- Participate in application modernization and cloud migration initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of AS400, IBM i, or iSeries development and support experience
- Strong experience with:
- RPG IV (ILE RPG)
- RPGLE
- CL Programming
- SQL
- Experience supporting and administering IBM i environments
- Strong DB2 for i database development and support skills
- Experience with SFTP/FTP integrations and automated file transfers
- Knowledge of IBM i security, user management, and object authorities
- Experience troubleshooting legacy applications and production environments
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Experience
- Managed hosting or third-party AS400 infrastructure support
- Backup, disaster recovery, and restoration processes
- Legacy data extraction, conversion, and archival projects
- System documentation and dependency mapping
- Modernization initiatives involving cloud technologies and platform migration
