Role Overview: PR Account Manager

The PR Account Manager provides senior-level strategic counsel while overseeing execution, operations, and team leadership across multiple retained accounts. This role balances client service, communications strategy, mentorship, and internal operations.

Client Services & Strategy

  • Serve as senior counsel on multiple retainer accounts across varied sectors

  • Lead earned media strategy, campaign messaging, and integrated communications planning

  • Act as the primary point of contact, managing expectations and evolving needs

  • Lead client presentations, reporting, and campaign recaps

Project & Operations Management

  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and workflows using project management tools

  • Forecast workloads and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope

  • Lead weekly team huddles, project sprints, and deadline check-ins

  • Support leadership with internal workflows and scalable systems

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Manage and mentor coordinators, interns, and junior team members

  • Review and approve press materials, media lists, and campaign drafts

  • Lead internal trainings and media skill-sharing sessions

  • Model strong communication, emotional intelligence, and constructive feedback

Media Relations & Writing

  • Write and edit press releases, media pitches, messaging documents, talking points, and creative briefs

  • Build and maintain strong media relationships across national, regional, and niche outlets

  • Lead media outreach and follow-up on high-priority campaigns

  • Oversee media tracking, coverage reports, and pitch logs

Business Development & Agency Growth

  • Participate in strategic planning and agency growth discussions

  • Support proposals, audits, and presentations for new opportunities

  • Identify thought leadership and visibility opportunities for the agency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 7+ years of account management or client services experience in an agency or consulting environment

  • Proven leadership and team mentorship experience

  • Strong background managing complex PR campaigns

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills

  • Exceptional project and time management abilities

  • High emotional intelligence and leadership presence

  • Experience working in multicultural or diverse professional environments

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and project management tools

  • Strong relationship-building skills
