Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting and Compliance

  • Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, reconciliations, payment processing, and collections

  • Process end-to-end payroll with accuracy and compliance with local regulations

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, and income tax returns

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures

  • Conduct monthly management reporting and variance analysis

  • Maintain accurate general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Act as the main point of contact for financial matters, including communication with clients, vendors, and auditors

  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist with preparation and review of annual budgets and forecasts

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Provide timely and insightful financial reports to management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting and tax regulations

Collaboration and Support

  • Work independently without direct reports or a team to manage

  • Liaise with external accountants, tax advisors, or business stakeholders as needed

  • Support process improvement initiatives within the finance function

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end AP and AR functions

  • Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle payroll independently using Xero and MYOB

  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS/GST, and compliance

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting

  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel

  • Experience working with remote teams or clients

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder liaison skills

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Previous experience working with NetSuite
