About the job Network Engineer
Purpose of the Position:
- Responsible for the establishment of networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitors, maintains and supports the local and wide area networks to ensure the smooth operation and provide maximum performance and availability for the end users - 20%
- Oversees and monitors the daily operations of the Network Management System for data gathering and analysis to maximize the performance and recommend solutions on the Local and Wide area networks. - 20%
- Prepares and processes of the billing statements for all telephone carriers and service providers regarding data lines and equipment. - 20%
- Facilitates backup files of all network equipment configuration and also the documentations and updates of inventory files. - 20%
- Facilitates update of records and files for the all data communication lines, equipment and cable pairs for immediate and future reference. - 20%
Scope and Limitations:
- Responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, problem coordination and resolution of all data communication equipment and facilities related to online applications, Mobile App, DSL VPN connections and network connections to other external networks attain highest availability.
- Provide telephone support to all branches, Head Offices and remote business office users with problems on network access and coordinate with different units for the resolution of the problem including the activation of DSL VPN connection for branches with line problem.
- Communicate with the telephone carriers, third party vendors and service providers for the repair and testing of network facilities to resolve problems related to communication lines and equipment.
- Responsible for the operations of the Network Management System to gather data and monitor the performance and availability of the Local and Wide Area Network.
- Responsible for the hardware and software configuration of the network and data communication equipment needed for problem resolutions, expansions and implementations of new applications
- Responsible for the testing and documentations of new network equipment needed in the technical evaluation for possible integration to network infrastructure
- Prepare, process and compile the payment of all monthly billing statements of telephone carriers regarding lease line subscription.
- Prepare daily reports and documentations regarding line availability based on the agreed Service Level Agreement with Telephone companies to ensure the PPG get rebates
- Perform backup procedures for all configuration and files to all network equipment and facilities
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance of all data communication equipment to ensure good performance
- Check and updates the records, files and inventory for all equipment, communication lines and other facilities of the company
- Support the quarterly preventive maintenance of all network equipment installed at Head Office and DR to minimize equipment breakdown.
- Perform other duties assigned by the immediate superior
Qualifications:
- Educational requirements - Must be a college graduate with Engineering degree, preferably in Electronics and Communications Engineering or its equivalent
- Experiential requirements - Must have at least 5-year exposure on data networking in the areas of local and wide area networks.
- Required interpersonal skills: Must possess good customer orientation and good communication skills both oral and written. Able to express his technical skills with his associates.
- In-depth knowledge in advanced data communications as well as local and wide area network.
- Strong in problem solving and analysis, technical design and configurations of data network facilities, network troubleshooting and network performance tuning.
- Knowledgeable on different network appliances for wide and local area network bandwidth accelerators, optimization and sniffers.
- Technically knowledgeable in Operating System and application packages such as:
- Operating Systems supported are:
a. Microsoft Windows
b. Linux
- Computer application and packages:
a. Microsoft Office
b. Microsoft Outlook
c. Internet
d. TCP/IP based devices
e. Handheld and personal devices
f. Other branch-based applications - Technically experienced and knowledgeable on network management tools:
- Technically experienced and knowledgeable on the software and hardware components of the local and wide area network, data equipment:
- Routers including IP Routing, DMVPN, EIGRP, Frame Relay
- Switches including HSRP, Ether channel, DHCP, ACLs, VLAN, Port mirroring, Load balancing, Spanning-tree - Wireless access points
- Modems and other data network peripherals like Firewalls,
Wireless and DSL modems like Zyxel, Huawei, ZTE, etc. - Structured cablings
- Computer equipment and peripherals including data communication peripherals
