About the job Research & Development Analyst
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying and coordinating the review and classification of all new and upcoming technologies in the fields of server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools
- Responsible for screening applicable technology that is attuned to the overall systems architectural plan
- Plan, lead and coordinate the setup of proofs of concept (POC) using available laboratory facilities or if required inclusion in the current production or disaster recovery setup with the special attention to ensure no impacts on current operational availability
- Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and security for objects placed inside the TS laboratory
- Responsible for designing and updating evaluation methods to properly review new technologies in the field of server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools.
Scope and Limitations:
- Determines as required, the hardware, software and network requirements necessary to support the application systems, data and system management approaches
- Formulates and recommends actions to be taken for customer servicing to ensure consistent and uniformed delivery of service
- Ensures the efficient and effective delivery of the companys products and services through its rendered assigned functions and services
- Handles difficult situations that affects several units of TS/ITD and its customers, providing solutions and appropriate action to satisfy and address all concerns
- Utilizes defined and/or adhoc methods, executed in an orderly manner in providing solutions for exceptions and other situations that have issues/concerns
- Provide input and advice in the development and delivery of the company's products and services considering the assigned functions and services delivered and handled
- Able to associate and relate the business and technical aspects of the company's products, services and operations to ensure the efficient utilization of resources
- Requires an adaptive and creative thinking to provide decisive and alternative approaches in process, procedures and guideline formulation as well as in the area of problem solving
- Responsible for the resources managed and operated within the associates assigned area with direct impact in the delivery of the company's products and services that directly affect end users and customers
- Research daily for new / relevant technology updates in the fields of server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools which can be harnessed to address business requirements
- Coordinate and lead the processing of proofs of concept, product demo and vendor technical updates
- Manage the current inventory of all equipment in the TS laboratory to ensure proper control of both company-owned and vendor-owned equipment
- Design and provide in coordination with other TS teams changes to existing documentation and guidelines on the use of new server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools
- Provide first level technical support in the resolution of issues which may stem from the use of newly evaluated and approved technology or from hardware and software currently under POC
- Conduct knowledge sharing sessions with members of the department in order to share technological advancements in the field of server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools
- Design project status report and all other project collaterals needed to update PMO documentation to support the launching of high impact projects focusing on the adoption of new and evaluation technological trends in the field of server, storage, network, systems management and automation tools
- Coordinate with other TS Specialists to ensure that projects that will require cross-over activities between units will all be performed within the timelines set and with minimal impact to each others project directives
- Design the required backout scenarios for all changes related to the implementation of special projects and generate the needed backout procedures to be followed for each case
- Regularly attend product presentations
- Conduct Training to IT Personnel (engineers, operators, programmer), and PPG employees on use of different application systems and solutions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements - Must be a graduate of an I.T/ Computer Science or related Engineering or Technology Courses
- Experiential Requirements - Must have at least 5 years of exposure in IT research and Application Support related work. With at least 3 years supervisory experience leading a technical team
- Required Interpersonal Skills: Must be a good team player with a customer-oriented attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess excellent supervisory skills.
- Must have excellent project management skill and has the capability to handle multiple projects concurrently
- Must have an extensive network of 3rd party vendors and technology principals
- Must have excellent product evaluation and testing skills. Must be updated on the latest trends in the evaluation of new technologies
