Job Overview

The Instructional Designer for Digital Learning is responsible for creating content across various learning modalities, including instructor-led (ILT), webinars (VILT), and eLearning, with a primary emphasis on eLearning, Micro Learning content, and learning validation activities. This role involves developing storyboards for content that will be handed off to Digital Developers for implementation.

This position supports the Learning Management System for internal training as well as client needs. The ideal candidate should have a passion for storytelling and creating engaging user experiences.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and develop materials, programs, curriculum, and course-level content to support online training that includes structured course requirements for classroom and self-directed learning.
  • Utilize authoring tools such as PowerPoint, Word, the Articulate 360 platform, Adobe Creative Cloud, and video editing/production software to create captivating instructor-led content and Micro-learning modules. Familiarity with Cognota is an advantage.
  • Generate engaging content for both virtual and physical classroom settings based on provided materials, ideas, and data collected from stakeholders.
  • Create various engaging learning deliverables (e.g., courses, games, videos, quizzes) that cater to different learning styles and career levels.
  • Apply adult learning models as guidance, such as Agile, ADDIE, and Dick & Carey Models.
  • Ensure timely and budget-compliant production of outputs that align with the training roadmap.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to determine needs and provide accurate, high-quality training materials.
  • Design templates and master files for training resources.
  • Develop instructor manuals, rubrics, and other facilitator tools.
  • Have an understanding of branding and digital pixel size outputs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work independently (remotely) and facilitate discussions to clarify learning requirements.
  • Strong consulting, communication, and engagement skills with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop learning materials that address performance or skills gaps.
  • Capability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to complete the full training cycle, including needs assessment, planning, development, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Disciplined in technical writing and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation abilities.
  • Knowledge of online, instructor-led, and e-learning software packages.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theories and industry best practices in facilitation, training, and blended learning solutions.
