Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and develop materials, programs, curriculum, and course-level content for structured training in both classroom and self-learning environments.
- Lead instructional design projects, establishing timelines, managing stakeholders, and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Create training agendas and wireframes for complete new hire training durations from 1 to 4 weeks.
- Manage and Lead Instructional Designers and Digital Developers content creation and provide constructive feedback to align with adult learning theories and modalities.
- Use authoring tools like PowerPoint, Word, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, and video editing/production tools to design and deliver engaging instructor-led and Microlearning modules. Experience with Vyond and Cognota are a plus.
- Create engaging content for virtual and physical classroom environments based on provided materials, stakeholder input, data analysis, and creative reasoning.
- Develop learning deliverables in various formats (e.g., courses, games, videos, quizzes, etc.) that appeal to multiple learning styles and career levels.
- Utilize instructional design models such as Agile, ADDIE, and Dick & Carey to guide content development.
- Manage training roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and skill development needs.
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Engage with stakeholders, SMEs, and cross-functional teams to assess learning needs and design accurate, high-quality training materials.
- Develop instructor manuals, rubrics, and other facilitator tools.
- Ensure branding consistency and proper output specifications.
- Oversee learning project timelines, ensuring milestones are met, risks are managed, and project goals are achieved.
- Communicate directly with clients and stakeholders to provide project updates, clarify requirements, and deliver content.
- Additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong ability to work independently (virtually) and guide discussions to extract learning requirements.
- Proven expertise in project management, including planning, coordinating, and executing training initiatives.
- Ability to consult with and engage SMEs and stakeholders to develop learning materials that address performance and skills gaps.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Proven ability to complete full training cycles (needs assessment, planning, development, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation).
- Disciplined in technical writing and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of online, instructor-led, and e-learning software packages.
- Expertise in adult learning theories and industry best practices in facilitation, training, and blended learning solutions.
- Experience in risk management, budgeting, and resource allocation for training projects.
- Advanced communication skills with the ability to relay complex messages simply.
Evaluation of Performance
The Senior Instructional Designer Digital Learning & Project Management will be evaluated regularly to ensure their role is positively impacting knowledge retention and skill development across programs and functions. Performance metrics include:
- Number of courses developed and implemented.
- Number of training hours delivered.
- Level 1 survey results.
- Completion rates of training courses.
- Adherence to compliance training requirements.
- Success in meeting project deadlines and managing resources effectively.
Education/Experience
- Bachelors degree in curriculum development, education, instructional design, project management, or a related field, OR a combination of education and experience.
- Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Articulate 360 or Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud, and video/audio editing software.
- Proven experience in instructional design with a strong background in project management within a learning and development environment.
