KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting into the Employment Law Deals Lead, this is an exciting opportunity to work directly with key stakeholders across a workload that is both interesting and varied:
- Provide operational and strategic support for our most complex multi-jurisdictional transactional matters to key stakeholders (including Contracting Legal, immigration teams, Solution Architects, mobilization, finance teams, business leadership, V&A HR and V&A Legal):
- Outsourcing negotiating and advising on new bids and contractual aspects of outsourcing deals, build operate transfers, client captive acquisitions, client joint ventures etc., including risk management and transition of staff into (and out from) the company.
- Ventures & Acquisitions negotiating and advising on Mergers and Acquisition/joint venture deals, including due diligence, deal execution and post-merger integration support.
- Coordinating with the local country Employment Law teams to deliver deal support and advise HR, Legal and management as appropriate.
- Acting as senior point of contact and coach/mentor for local country Employment Law teams on significant and complex deal-specific employment law issues.
- Educating senior company executives on legal and risk management issues in relation to Contracting and V&A.
- Contribute to development of internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on Employment Law and business issues.
- Manage and oversee external counsel relationships with law firms as appropriate, including budget management.
- Stay abreast of legal developments impacting on the company, its clients, and industries and incorporate it into company practices.
Job Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree or equivalent degree or legal qualification.
- Admitted to the bar (or local equivalent) and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law. An understanding of contracting under US law for a global corporation is preferred.
- 7+ years legal experience of relevant attorney work, including:
- Functional understanding of legal issues related to bringing software products to market in a legally compliant manner, including offerings utilizing machine learning, third party data.
- Technology transactional experience either in drafting and negotiating technology focused client facing and/or vendor facing agreements, in a law firm or in a fast-paced in-house legal department.
- Working knowledge of: (a) data and security privacy issues; (b) IP law; (c) open source licensing; and (d) general product development considerations.
- Risk analysis, appreciation, prioritization, and management.
It is preferred that candidates would have:
- In-house experience
- Interest in technology and particularly in new technologies such as artificial intelligence
- Experience of training other lawyers
- Product liability knowledge
