Job Overview:
Success with Power BI depends on high-quality data management. We are looking for experienced lead consultants with strong expertise in Power BI and data administration. Ideal candidates will have advanced skills in Power BI components such as PowerQuery/M, DAX, and dimensional modeling, along with foundational report design abilities. Familiarity with SQL Server, including data warehouse architecture, SSIS, SSRS, and DirectQuery, is a plus. Knowledge of Power BI licensing options and the ability to advise clients on optimal licensing arrangements are essential. Experience with Databricks for building and optimizing data pipelines is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with clients, their teams, and technical specialists like database developers and engineers. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a good understanding of both technical and business intelligence concepts, and a proactive approach to staying updated on Power BI developments. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct discovery sessions with clients to understand their reporting needs
- Advise clients on Power BI licensing options, highlighting benefits and limitations
- Design efficient star schema data models, including calculated columns and measures
- Develop Power BI solutions by importing data from various sources, creating reports, dashboards, and data elements using DAX and source queries
- Assist clients in deploying Power BI solutions to the Power BI service, including configuring gateways, DirectQuery, data flows, and refresh mechanisms
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience
- Over 5 years of experience working with data and business intelligence solutions using Microsoft tools (SSRS, Power BI, PowerPivot, PerformancePoint) or other BI platforms (e.g., Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, SAP)
- Proficiency in T-SQL, data modeling, and report development with Power BI or similar tools
- Proven track record in designing interactive Power BI reports with drilldowns and nested parameters
- Advanced knowledge of DAX for creating dynamic measures
- Experience with Power Query/M for data mashups and transformations
- Hands-on experience with Databricks for developing and optimizing data workflows
- Ability to select suitable visualizations and craft user-friendly, interactive reports
- Skilled in requirements gathering and conducting focus groups to enhance business processes
