About the job Back-end Senior Engineer (Hybrid) | Pasig

Work Hours: 8 hours per day

Work Setup: Morning shift (Monday-Friday)

Hybrid Setup: Primarily remote, with occasional onsite work required at least once per month

Equipment: Company-provided

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend solutions that optimize database queries and enhance website speed
  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress plugins and Drupal modules to extend core functionalities and support enterprise workflows
  • Build and maintain REST API and GraphQL endpoints to enable seamless integrations with third-party systems and headless architecture
  • Apply advanced security measures such as data encryption, role-based access control, and automated vulnerability patching to safeguard websites
  • Manage DevOps processes including automated deployments, backups, and server performance tuning within hosting environments like WPEngine and Pantheon

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's/College Degree in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Computer Science/Information Technology or
    equivalent
  • 5 years minimum experience in backend development with a focus on WordPress or Drupal
  • Strong knowledge of PHP and SQL
  • Experience with headless integration, including decoupled architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge and experience working with WPEngine and/or Pantheon
  • Ability to implement custom plugins and themes in WordPress or custom modules in Drupal
  • Understanding of web security best practices and ability to implement security measures for websites
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git)

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Frontend knowledge beyond basics to improve collaboration with frontend teams (e.g., React, Vue)
  • Knowledge of advanced Drupal modules and WordPress plugin architecture
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of CMS-based websites
  • Exposure to additional backend languages and frameworks can be a plus
  • Familiarity with message brokers and queues such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka
