Job Summary
The Fiber Maintenance Engineer provides technical guidance and support to field teams, ensuring that all specifications and maintenance details are communicated and understood. This role involves resolving complex technical problems in the field and assisting expert technicians in finalizing solutions. The position also includes ensuring network operations are safe and efficient, and managing maintenance schedules and activities.

Job Duties

  • Review site acceptance documents and advise the Field Maintenance Director on any issues before finalization.
  • Provide guidance on planned maintenance schedules and hardware adjustments.
  • Support field maintenance supervisors on industry standards for infrastructure maintenance.
  • Utilize experience in optical transport, cable infrastructure, and wireless mechanical power constructions to facilitate efficient outcomes.
  • Input information into Operations Department forms (OP/RQ).
  • Create mathematical models for RF communications distribution systems.
  • Provide technical support for cable placement, terminations, splicing (optical fiber and copper).
  • Implement and monitor various status monitoring systems.
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems effectively.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules in collaboration with the Preventive Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates at peak condition, using precision testing equipment.
  • Conduct servicing, testing, inspections, and repairs on a variety of equipment including electrical equipment, air compressors, and towers.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Reorganize operational sites to meet technical department standards.
  • Assist the team leader in selecting sites for reorganization, considering their importance.
  • Complete acceptance forms and inform the Deployment Department about issues needing resolution.
  • Notify the Deployment Department when a site has been accepted.
  • Follow up on material requests and returns from governorates to the main warehouse.
  • Prepare worksheets related to technician work.
  • Troubleshoot network failures and outages.
  • Be available for on-call support 24/7 in urgent cases.
  • Perform mechanical and/or fusion splicing of fiber optic cables as required.
  • Maintain inventories of test equipment and transmitters.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BSc in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecom Engineering or a related field.
  • Years of Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience.
