FTTH Field Engineer
About the job FTTH Field Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Management of Technicians: Supervise and coordinate the activities of field service technicians ensuring quality and timely completion of the jobs.
- FTTH Installation and Maintenance: Oversee and execute installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of FTTH networks. Ensure quality of installation from the central office to the customer premises.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to technicians, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Act as a technical lead in resolving any network issues.
- Customer Interaction: Interface with customers to answer inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide information about network installations or repairs.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all operations comply with state and federal regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
- Network Design: Assist in the design and planning of FTTH networks. Review and approve contractor network design submissions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all installation, maintenance activities, and network designs.
- Training and Development: Train and develop new field service technicians. Conduct regular training sessions on new technology, safety practices, and equipment usage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Field Engineer in the Telecom industry, preferably with FTTH network installations.
- Strong understanding of FTTH technologies, such as GPON, EPON, and RFoG.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of industry's safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions, such as adverse weather or high locations.
- Proficiency in using network design and testing software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
