About the job Mid-Level Accountant
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mid-Level Accountant. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the financial records, supporting the mission to achieve positive social impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices and payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
- Maintain and update the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end closings and annual audits.
- Assist with grant accounting and reporting procedures.
- Develop and implement internal controls to ensure financial integrity.
- Generate and analyze financial reports for management and donors.
- Stay up-to-date on accounting principles and regulations relevant to NGOs.
- Support with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in finance and other departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an accountant, preferably in a non-governmental organization or non-profit environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Nonprofit) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for the mission and values of non-governmental organizations.
