Job Summary:

The Field Maintenance Engineer is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to field maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with technology specifications and efficient resolution of complex technical issues. This role involves hands-on fieldwork and collaboration with technical experts to implement effective solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in selecting materials, equipment, and properties for mechanical analyses and repairs.
  • Understand applied mechanics, mechanical testing, and optical transmission to diagnose and assist in resolving complex technical problems.
  • Review site acceptance documents to ensure safe and efficient network operations; advise on improvements before finalization.
  • Advise on planned maintenance schedules and adjust hardware components as needed.
  • Support field maintenance supervisors with adherence to infrastructure maintenance industry standards.
  • Apply expertise in optical transport, cable infrastructure, and wireless mechanical power constructions to improve operational outcomes.
  • Document Operations Department forms and requirements (OP/RQ).
  • Act as primary on-site technical advisor during maintenance assignments.
  • Coordinate with teams and third parties to maintain quality standards.
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings for equipment modification and removal.
  • Develop mathematical models for RF communications distribution systems.
  • Manage wired and wireless communication projects using planning software.
  • Provide technical support for cable placement, terminations, and splicing (optical fiber and copper).
  • Demonstrate intermediate to expert knowledge in physical, data-link, and network protocols; routers, switches; system load balancing; and redundant system architecture.
  • Implement and manage status monitoring systems.
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems effectively.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules under the guidance of the preventive maintenance supervisor.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks using precision testing equipment.
  • Service, test, inspect, and repair various equipment including electrical equipment, air compressors, and towers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Rearrange operational sites to meet technical department standards.
  • Assist in selecting sites for rearrangement based on technical considerations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure corrective actions are taken for faulty installations on-site.
  • Conduct site acceptance for newly deployed locations based on technical specifications.
  • Coordinate material requests and returns between governorates and the main warehouse.
  • Prepare technician work sheets and coordinate with monitoring sections to optimize team performance.
  • Troubleshoot network failures and outages, available for 24x7 on-call support.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze system/network design maps; recommend necessary network changes.
  • Perform mechanical and/or fusion splicing of fiber optic cables as required.
  • Maintain accurate records including time worked and daily logs.
  • Support continuity efforts including disaster readiness and recovery.
  • Make recommendations to engineering for network coverage improvements and implement changes.
  • Maintain inventories of test equipment and transmitters.

Requirements:

Education:

  • BSc. in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecom Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • 0-2 years experience in Engineering, ISP, or Telecom Maintenance Role.
