Role Objective:
To oversee the day-to-day activities of the finance team and ensures the companies finance function is organized, efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts
To manage the accounting function at Raiya to ensure timely and accurate execution of the daily accounting processes, such as accounts payable and receivables, financial closing & consolidations, maintaining chart of accounts, processing payroll, reconciliations, maintaining records of petty cash and controlling fixed assets
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Strategic
- Implement approved financial control policies by introducing / continuously developing operating procedures to organize, co-ordinate and manage the financial accounting process for the business
- Contribute towards formulation of strategy, annual business plans, budgets, policies and procedures of ones department, to support divisional and organizational business strategy
Operational
- Assist Head of Finance & Accounts (CFO) to establish and implement short and long range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Execute the business plan, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital, forecasts and cash control aligned with the business strategy
- Examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Lead and participate in all accounting operations of the company including invoicing and cash management, accounts payable/receivable and payroll
- Lead and participate in the monthly accounting closure ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness and compliance with corporate policy
- Reconcile sub ledger reports on a monthly basis in addition to creating the final trial balance
- Manage invoicing and the collection of receivables and payments; verify all vendor invoices and prepare for approval
- Registration and maintenance of Raiya fixed assets; lead the valuation of fixed assets, adjusting for depreciation
- Implement accounting policy, internal and external financial reporting, financial analysis and internal controls and procedure
- Develop systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances
- Complies with legal and regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
- Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles
- Oversee daily operations of the Accounts department and work with Head of Finance & Accounts to develop short and long-term departmental plan in alignment with Raiyas corporate plan
- Lead the preparation of the profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports
- Present financial information to senior management and/or Board of Directors
- Oversee financial management of county operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures
- Monitor and approve all capital expenditures, such as equipment purchase, acquisition of land, strategic projects etc
- Ensure and support accounting staff in maintaining files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with the filing policies and procedures
- Act as the main point of contact to external auditors and provide all required information; Oversee action taken on Audit recommendations for improvements
- Recommend changes that will improve the company's overall financial performance and financial controls
- Perform other duties as requested by Management.
People
- Guide the staff in executing their respective responsibilities towards the achievement of the Departments goals and objectives as well as those of Raiya
- Establish the performance plans for direct subordinates; guide them in establishing performance plans for their respective subordinates
- Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all employees within the Department
- Drive the engagement and satisfaction of all employees within the Department through holding periodic meetings to discuss the achievements and address any employee issues and/or concerns.

Education & Qualifications:
Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting;
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent is preferred)
- A minimum 6 10 years of relevant experience within the financial field;
- Including 1-2 years experience of managing a small accounting team
