About the job Power Generation Technical Office Section Head
We are looking for a Power Generation Technical Office Section Head with a strong expertise in power generation systems. This role involves leading the Technical Office team, ensuring high-quality design and documentation, and providing technical support for power plant projects.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of power plant systems (gas engines, turbines, transformers, cooling systems, etc.), excellent leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Office Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead and manage the Technical Office team, overseeing documentation, design reviews, and process optimization.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring technical accuracy and professional growth.
- Maintain and improve technical workflows, document control processes, and reporting structures.
- Ensure engineering documentation is well-organized, up-to-date, and meets industry standards.
2. Power Plant Systems Expertise & Design Oversight:
- Review and develop mechanical and electrical system designs for power plants.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, ASME, API, ISO, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
- Oversee and validate single-line diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical layouts, electrical schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Support system optimization for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
3. Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a technical focal point between engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and civil teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Participate in project planning, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Represent the technical office in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures for all technical office deliverables.
- Conduct technical reviews and approvals of designs, calculations, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with power plant safety, performance, and environmental regulations.
5. Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Develop technical specifications for electrical and mechanical equipment procurement.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and ensure compliance with project technical requirements.
- Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams to select high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
6. Site & Commissioning Support (As Needed):
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of power plant systems.
- Conduct site visits to verify installations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with designs.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on site findings.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Masters degree is a plus).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in power generation technical office roles.
- Strong knowledge of power plant systems, including gas engines, turbines, transformers, cooling systems, and switchgear.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
- Strong understanding of power generation processes, electrical and mechanical equipment, and plant efficiency optimization.
- Familiarity with international engineering standards (IEC, IEEE, ASME, API, NEC, ISO, NFPA, etc.).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with power plant automation, SCADA, ETAP, Power factory, PSSE and protection systems.
- Knowledge of grid interconnection requirements.
- Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
