Job Overview:
Responsible for overseeing the mechanical systems and equipment of the gas engine-fired power plant. This includes the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical plant components such as gas engines, cooling systems, pumps, and piping systems. The engineer will collaborate with other plant personnel to ensure that the mechanical systems operate efficiently, reliably, and safely in compliance with all company policies, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment including gas engines, cooling systems, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans to ensure optimal performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, malfunctions, and inefficiencies; conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to restore system functionality.
- Prepare and maintain detailed mechanical maintenance records, reports, and documentation using SAP and CMMS systems.
- Conduct periodic inspections, tests, and performance evaluations on mechanical systems to ensure they meet operational standards and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the electrical and controls teams to ensure the smooth operation and integration of mechanical systems with the overall plant operation.
- Assist in the planning and execution of scheduled outages, mechanical overhauls, and system upgrades.
- Research and procure necessary spare parts, tools, and materials for the maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Provide technical direction and training to junior engineers and technicians on mechanical system maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
- Assist in preparing and managing the mechanical maintenance budget, ensuring that all maintenance activities remain within the allocated budget.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, standards, and regulations; promote a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective actions.
- Implement best practices to improve mechanical system reliability, reduce downtime, and increase the overall efficiency of the power plant.
- Enforce proper housekeeping in all mechanical workshops, storage areas, and plant facilities.
- Work with external service providers, vendors, and contractors during maintenance, repair, or installation activities.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on the status of mechanical systems, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to the Branch Manager and the Power Generation Department Head.
- Continuously look for ways to improve plant performance through mechanical system optimization, upgrades, and innovation.
Skills And Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power generation (Operation & Maintenance) with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Strong background in power generation plant mechanical systems and components, such as gas engines, cooling systems, pumps, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Good command of the English language.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with CAD applications and mechanical design software.
- Knowledge of SAP system (Plant maintenance module).
