Job Purpose

To lead the execution of TAQA Power's business development strategies by managing key projects, securing opportunities, and fostering strong client and partner relationships. The role supports the Senior BD Manager in achieving growth targets while managing a portfolio of initiatives. The role will originate, qualify, develop, negotiate, and close opportunities across Power Distribution, Renewable Energy, Generation, and EV Charging, while coordinating with technical, commercial, legal, finance, regulatory, and operations teams from early opportunity screening through contract award and handover.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the TAQA Power's growth objectives across Power Distribution, Renewable Energy, Generation, and EV Charging.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across target markets and industries including industrial zones, mixed-use developments, commercial and industrial customers, oil & gas, infrastructure developers, and strategic government-related initiatives.
  • Build, manage, and convert a qualified opportunity pipeline from market mapping and lead generation through screening, proposal submission, negotiation, contract award, and handover to execution teams.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, partners, and key stakeholders including developers, industrial clients, EPC contractors, technology providers, regulators, financial institutions, and government authorities.
  • Conduct market research, feasibility studies, and competitor analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities and translate findings into actionable business cases, white papers, pricing inputs, and go-to-market plans.
  • Track industry developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting power distribution licenses, PPAs, renewable energy procurement, grid access, EV charging, and tariff/commercial models.
  • Lead the end-to-end business development cycle, from lead generation through contract award including opportunity qualification, technical-commercial screening, risk review, approvals, negotiation, and execution handover.
  • Develop business cases, financial models, and proposals for approval covering BOO/BOOT, PPA, EPC, O&M, concession, profit-share, and other commercial structures as applicable.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely follow-up on opportunities with clear status updates, next actions, decision gates, probability weighting, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate with technical, engineering, finance, legal, and operations teams to prepare competitive technical and commercial proposals and ensure bid assumptions, scope boundaries, risk allocation, delivery timelines, and pricing are properly aligned.
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations, presentations, and networking events to strengthen business relationships and position TAQA Power's integrated energy solutions effectively.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and support contract discussions while ensuring compliance with company policies and alignment with approved risk, legal, financial, and technical positions.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and alliances that support business expansion including EPC partners, consultants, technology providers, investors, developers, and local/regional partners.
  • Prepare progress reports on BD performance, pipeline status, market intelligence, potential risks & opportunities and business development activities for senior management review.
  • Support the development of annual business plans, revenue targets, and market expansion initiatives for each assigned business line.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Business Development team to achieve departmental objectives. Support coaching and knowledge transfer within the BD team and contribute to improving BD tools, templates, reporting discipline, and commercial processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Energy, or related Engineering discipline. MBA, Master of Management, or relevant commercial/finance qualification is a plus.

Experience

  • 12–15 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or senior commercial role within business development, sales, project development, or commercial management. Experience in power distribution, renewable energy, power generation, utilities, or infrastructure is highly desirable.

Languages

  • Excellent command of English Language.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required for local stakeholder engagement

Required Competencies

  • Excellent communication & presentation skills with the ability to develop clear executive-level materials and client-facing proposals.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Experience in the Power, Energy, Utilities, EPC or Infrastructure sectors is highly preferred with exposure to distribution networks, solar/wind projects, CHP/gas-to-power/flare-to-power, and/or EV charging business models considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical and market research skills Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding, including pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and contract terms as well as basic understanding of IRR, payback, PPA tariffs, CAPEX/OPEX assumptions, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills Solid understanding of Egypt's power sector, utility business models, regulatory interfaces, and renewable energy/EV market dynamics.
  • Excellent business acumen with a proven ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • High ownership, follow-up discipline, and ability to manage multiple opportunities under tight deadlines.
