Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to support and oversee operations within the clinical laboratory at a hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. This position plays a key leadership role, ensuring laboratory testing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day workflow efficiency across all generalist areas, including the Blood Bank.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform and oversee complex diagnostic testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality control standards
Troubleshoot instrumentation and resolve testing issues
Collaborate with clinical teams to support timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment
Assist in maintaining laboratory policies, procedures, and documentation

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a science-related field or equivalent qualifications for CLS licensure
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License upon hire
5 years of clinical laboratory experience in an acute care hospital setting, working as a generalist including in Blood Bank

Preferred Qualifications:

ASCP Certification upon hire
