About the job Credit Collections Lead
Company Description
Our client is a Bangladesh-based fintech digitizing the country's under-banked micro, small, and medium enterprises. Over 1 million businesses use their products. Through their lending business, they provide embedded supply chain financing to Mudi dokans and distributors in partnership with leading banks.
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Credit Collections Lead to own the full collections function for their lending business, which gives mudi dokans (small retail shops) and distributors access to bank-provided credit so they can stock inventory, sell it, and repay over time.
This is a leadership role, not a field recovery agent role. You will build and run the systems that keep repayment on track, from policy and process design down to what happens on the ground when a borrower misses a payment. You will take over an existing collections team from day one and hire to grow it as the
loan book scales. You will report directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of the collections journey, from the first missed-payment signal through recovery and, where needed, collateral enforcement
- Collections strategy at two levels: the policy and process design, and the ground-level execution that makes it work in the field
- A structured escalation framework with clear stages, triggers, owners, and timelines for every point a repayment slips
- Collateral management: organising how collateral is recorded, valued, held, and enforced across mudi dokan and distributor lending
- Leading and growing the collections team, managing the people already in place and hiring to scale as the book grows
- Field-level collections presence, working on the ground with the team on real accounts, not managing only from a desk
- Reporting that shows collection efficiency, recovery rates, delinquency movement, and roll rates, reported directly to the CEO.
- Working with the lending, credit, and field teams to close the loop between origination risk and collections outcomes.
First 30 Days
- Set clear baselines from real data: delinquency rate, recovery rate, roll rates by bucket, and the current collateral position.
- Take over the existing team and point them at live, high-priority accounts from week one.
- Map the current end-to-end collections journey and identify the biggest gaps in escalation and follow up.
- Get on the ground with the team on real mudi dokan and distributor accounts, not secondhand.
- Show early movement on at least one number (recovery closed, a delinquency bucket reduced) before day 30 ends.
First 60 Days
- Put a structured escalation framework in place: stages, triggers, owners, and timelines.
- Stand up an organized collateral management process across mudi dokan and distributor lending.
- Run the new process on live accounts, measure what works, and adjust.
- Have clear before and after numbers on the accounts where the new process has started.
- Team is executing the process day to day, not waiting on the Lead for every decision.
- Begin hiring to fill the gaps needed to scale collections with the book
First 90 Days
- Collections process is proven and ready to scale across the full borrower base.
- Consistent, demonstrated improvement in delinquency and recovery numbers, with a clear trend.
- Escalation framework and collateral management running as standard, not ad hoc.
- Team operating the collections system independently, with the Lead focused on strategy, scale, and hiring.
- Clear plan presented to the CEO for scaling collections across the full book over the next 6 to 12 months.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in an NBFI, MFI, or Bank as team lead running collections.
- Proven ability to manage collections at scale, both at the policy level and on the ground.
- Direct, hands-on experience with mudi dokan financing and distributor financing. This is a must-have. We are not considering candidates without it.
- Demonstrated experience organizing collateral management: recording, valuation, custody, and enforcement.
- A track record of building escalation levels and structured recovery processes, not just running someone else's playbook.
- Strong systems thinking: able to see the whole collections journey and design the process end to end.
- Quick on their feet, able to move from a problem to a decision without waiting for perfect information.
- Comfortable in the field, dealing directly with shopkeepers and distributors on repayment.
- Experience managing a team, ideally one already in place, and able to hire and grow it.
- Strong data and reporting skills: comfortable reading and building dashboards and explaining the numbers to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, since you will report directly to the CEO on collections performance.
