The position plays a key part in tooling design, process validation, and cross-functional collaboration to support both new and existing product development initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop header tooling based on blueprints, product drawings, and technical specifications
  • Create and maintain design documentation including drawings, BOMs, and technical specs
  • Use 3D modeling and drafting software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design creation
  • Lead and support the development of cold forming processes, including deep impact extrusion
  • Collaborate with machinists and operators for prototype tooling fabrication, testing, and validation
  • Analyze tolerance requirements, surface finish, and material microstructure to ensure quality
  • Translate 2D prints into tool designs that meet customer expectations
  • Support secondary processes such as thread rolling, pressing, and machining
  • Apply APQP methodologies to support quality planning and development
  • Work with ERP/MRP systems to manage engineering and production workflows
  • Maintain a high level of familiarity with cold heading operations, including multi-die and progressive techniques
  • Support plating-related processes before and after forming operations
  • Design multi-die BOMs for complex component manufacturing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling and progression design for cold heading operations
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and standard inspection techniques
