About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety in production operations. This role is critical in supporting product development, scaling manufacturing capabilities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria such as efficiency and speed
- Provide cost estimations for new and existing projects
- Create, test, and implement manufacturing processes
- Study production and machine requirements to inform design decisions
- Develop and test effective automated and manual systems
- Design and install equipment to support manufacturing needs
- Implement manufacturing processes that result in high-quality products
- Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
- Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, and network performance
- Resolve issues and delays in production
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and maximize product quality
- Train staff in new and existing processes
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and suppliers
- Ensure manufacturing procedures comply with safety and environmental regulations
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technologies
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental regulations
Desired Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Experience in senior-level manufacturing engineering roles
- Experience with cost estimating in manufacturing environments
- Background in medical device manufacturing
- Demonstrated success implementing process improvements using lean or Six Sigma methodologies
