About the Role
The Director of Purchasing leads the procurement and supply chain strategy across two facilities, managing a team of three buyers. This role focuses on optimizing purchasing processes, supplier relationships, cost management, and inventory control to support business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee purchasing, production planning, and inventory management.
- Lead and develop a team of three buyers.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for purchasing operations.
- Ensure long-term capacity and supply planning aligns with business needs.
- Review and improve supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and cost savings.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate sourcing agreements.
- Conduct market analysis to optimize ingredient and packaging procurement.
- Oversee inventory planning and minimize out-of-stock situations.
- Work with IT to optimize data use for forecasting and purchasing.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting on purchasing performance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of purchasing experience, including team leadership.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (APICS certification preferred).
- Experience in food manufacturing purchasing required.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain planning.
Desired Qualifications
- Masters degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.
- Knowledge of organic and non-GMO ingredient sourcing.
- Experience with cost-saving and risk mitigation strategies.
