About the Role

The Director of Purchasing leads the procurement and supply chain strategy across two facilities, managing a team of three buyers. This role focuses on optimizing purchasing processes, supplier relationships, cost management, and inventory control to support business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee purchasing, production planning, and inventory management.
  • Lead and develop a team of three buyers.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for purchasing operations.
  • Ensure long-term capacity and supply planning aligns with business needs.
  • Review and improve supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and cost savings.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate sourcing agreements.
  • Conduct market analysis to optimize ingredient and packaging procurement.
  • Oversee inventory planning and minimize out-of-stock situations.
  • Work with IT to optimize data use for forecasting and purchasing.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting on purchasing performance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of purchasing experience, including team leadership.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (APICS certification preferred).
  • Experience in food manufacturing purchasing required.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain planning.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of organic and non-GMO ingredient sourcing.
  • Experience with cost-saving and risk mitigation strategies.
