About the Role
The Sourcing Manager is a senior-level position responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure timely access to high-quality materials and services. This role supports operational efficiency within a manufacturing and fabrication environment by managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and aligning sourcing efforts with production goals. Key focus areas include strategic procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and cost optimization within the industrial and metal fabrication sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with manufacturing and fabrication needs
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers of key materials including steel, aluminum, fasteners, coatings, and chemicals
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to achieve cost savings and secure consistent supply
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure material requirements meet manufacturing standards
- Monitor market trends and raw material pricing to support data-driven sourcing decisions
- Conduct supplier audits and manage performance using metrics such as cost, quality, and on-time delivery
- Analyze make-versus-buy scenarios and evaluate outsourcing opportunities for finishing and fabrication services
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier certifications, and contract compliance
- Use ERP systems to manage purchasing workflows, inventory forecasting, and material planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of experience in sourcing or procurement within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, metal finishing (plating, anodizing, powder coating), and raw materials sourcing
- Proven negotiation and vendor management skills with a focus on cost control and risk mitigation
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as Epicor
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with production planning and inventory control processes
- Familiarity with material certifications and compliance standards such as DFARS, RoHS, and REACH
- Background in international and domestic sourcing strategies
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and supply chain optimization
