Position Summary:

We are seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Supervisor to lead and manage daily operations within the CNC machining department. The CNC Supervisor will oversee production activities, ensuring that all schedules are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires in-depth knowledge of CNC machining processes, blueprint reading, equipment programming, and supervising teams. Responsibilities include employee training, addressing performance issues, and collaborating with other departments to meet production goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the 2nd shift CNC team, ensuring production schedules are adhered to and performance targets are met.
  • Prioritize workplace safety by enforcing the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to CNC machinists and lead operators, ensuring tasks are executed accurately and safely.
  • Develop and manage weekly production schedules, coordinate labor allocation, and ensure timely submission of production documentation.
  • Conduct regular reviews of production plans, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and on-time completion of customer orders.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule and oversee equipment maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
  • Oversee on-the-job training programs for new hires and existing employees, including CNC operation, blueprint interpretation, and safety procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance and handle disciplinary actions when necessary, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and quality teams to ensure that production specifications and customer requirements are met.
  • Program CNC machines, review technical blueprints, and inspect parts prior to shipment to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, quality, and Lean Manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing CNC operations.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming, machine setup, and blueprint reading.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor employees.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols, with the ability to enforce a safety-first culture.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to troubleshoot machining and production issues.
  • Proficient in ERP systems for scheduling and production tracking, with solid reporting skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to balance multiple priorities on the 2nd shift.
