About the Role:
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machining equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency in a precision manufacturing environment. This role focuses on keeping advanced CNC machines and supporting systems operating at peak performance while meeting strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with CNC machinery, preventive maintenance, and technical problem-solving within a regulated manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, Swiss machines, and multi-axis systems.

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues affecting machine performance.

Maintain and service auxiliary equipment such as chip conveyors, coolant systems, and support utilities.

Install, commission, relocate, and modify CNC machines and related production equipment.

Document all maintenance activities in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including service logs and parts usage.

Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, and internal quality and safety procedures.

Apply Lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, and root cause analysis (RCA) to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve recurring equipment issues and implement process improvements.

Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and service providers as needed for specialized support.

Participate in equipment-related safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

3-5 years of experience maintaining and repairing CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Okuma OSP, or equivalent platforms.

Hands-on experience in regulated industries with ISO 13485, GMP, or similar compliance standards.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.

Proficiency in using CMMS systems to track and document maintenance activities.

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with a focus on safety and reliability.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Desired Qualifications:

OEM or technical training certifications in CNC maintenance or repair.

Experience supporting advanced CNC equipment such as 5-axis mills, Swiss machines, EDM, or laser systems.

Familiarity with facility utilities, HVAC, and support infrastructure.

Safety certifications such as Lockout/Tagout or Electrical Safety.

Proven ability to lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing environments.
