About the Role

A plaintiff-side employment law firm is seeking a Settlement Attorney to manage post-mediation and post-litigation settlement matters. This role focuses on overseeing all aspects of settlement execution, including drafting agreements, coordinating court approvals, managing settlement administration, and ensuring timely client distributions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience handling wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, or individual employment settlements and is comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously. This is a high-responsibility role requiring strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate across clients, opposing counsel, courts, and settlement administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate wage and hour class action, PAGA, and individual employment settlement agreements.
  • Prepare class notices and coordinate settlement distribution processes.
  • Draft motions for preliminary and final approval, supplemental briefs, amended complaints, proposed orders, and supporting declarations.
  • Appear at court hearings, including preliminary approval, final approval, status conferences, and accounting hearings.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding settlement updates, timelines, declarations, and expected payments.
  • Coordinate with settlement administrators to review notices, verify calculations, and ensure compliance.
  • Follow up with opposing counsel regarding revisions and execution of settlement agreements.
  • Track filing deadlines, court rulings, and required approvals.
  • Supervise staff to ensure proper completion of settlement documentation and administrative processes.
  • Coordinate with accounting on incoming and outgoing settlement funds, distributions, referrals, and payment timelines.
  • Provide strategic input during settlement negotiations.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience handling settlement matters in employment litigation.
  • Experience with class actions, PAGA claims, or individual employment disputes.
  • Active California Bar license required.
  • Strong drafting experience, including settlement agreements and court motions.
  • Experience communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and settlement administrators.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and track complex deadlines.
  • Experience making court appearances in settlement-related proceedings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in plaintiff-side employment litigation.
  • Experience supervising administrative staff or managing settlement workflows.
  • Familiarity with California wage and hour laws and PAGA procedures.

Compensation

Salary range: $140,000 – $170,000, commensurate with experience.
