Project Manager – Construction (Permitting Required)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong new build permitting experience to oversee residential and multi-use construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role requires hands-on expertise navigating city and county permitting processes and managing ground-up construction projects.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of new construction experience and a proven track record submitting and managing permits across multiple jurisdictions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects move efficiently through entitlement, permitting, scheduling, and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, scheduling, and coordination of new build residential and mixed-use construction projects.
  • Manage and submit building permit applications to city and county agencies.
  • Navigate plan checks, revisions, resubmittals, and approvals across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal agencies to ensure compliance with building codes and zoning requirements.
  • Review blueprints and technical documents to ensure alignment with permitting and construction standards.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure safety and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal teams to maintain timelines.
  • Track project milestones and maintain accurate project records using construction management software.
  • Prepare project status updates and reports for leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of new build construction project management experience.
  • Direct experience managing residential permitting processes.
  • Strong understanding of California building codes and municipal approval processes.
  • Experience coordinating plan checks and responding to correction notices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and construction schedules.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in person in Concord, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Experience with modular construction or prefab projects.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Zoho Projects or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with civil engineering tools such as Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with ADUs, SFRs, multifamily, or mixed-use projects.
