About the Role:
The Maintenance Technician, CNC Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex CNC machinery and industrial equipment in a high-precision manufacturing environment. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and production efficiency, supporting regulated component manufacturing operations.
Direct experience with FANUC controls and CNC machine repair is required. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems, with the ability to independently diagnose and repair advanced CNC equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair CNC machines equipped with FANUC controls.
- Troubleshoot servo systems, drives, motors, spindles, and control boards.
- Replace and align ball screws, guide rails, and spindles using precision indicators.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, circuit boards, and memory devices.
- Analyze machine deviations and implement corrective actions to improve process stability.
- Execute continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and manage critical component stock levels.
- Support facility-level maintenance and environmental, health, and safety systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and service logs.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize equipment performance.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience repairing CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience working with FANUC control systems is required.
- Strong background in CNC troubleshooting, including servo drives, motors, and spindle systems.
- Experience with industrial electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proven experience performing precision mechanical alignments and component replacement.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working directly on the production floor.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Tornos or Swiss-style CNC machines.
- Experience in medical device, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with maintenance tracking software or CMMS systems.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
