About the Role:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for supporting cost accounting operations within a manufacturing environment, including bill of materials management, inventory analysis, standard costing, and margin analysis. This role partners closely with operations to analyze manufacturing costs, validate cost of goods sold, and improve financial visibility across production processes. The position is ideal for an accounting professional with two to three years of experience in a manufacturing cost accounting environment who is seeking continued growth in a hands-on, cross-functional setting.
Responsibilities:

Maintain and update standard costs within the bill of materials and ERP or MRP system.

Analyze standard versus actual costs and investigate cost variances.

Validate cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close process.

Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.

Review routers and compare to BOMs to identify discrepancies and ensure cost accuracy.

Perform analysis of direct manufacturing costs and overhead allocations.

Conduct materials costing, pricing, and margin analysis to support operational decision making.

Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Assist with financial statement preparation and budgeting processes.

Support implementation and optimization of MRP systems and related cost controls.

Review inventory-related transactions and support payables processing as needed.

Cross-train in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

Two to three years of accounting experience in a manufacturing cost accounting environment required.

Experience with standard costing, BOM management, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.

MRP or ERP system experience in a manufacturing setting required.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, production, and cross-functional teams.

Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desired Qualifications:

CPA or progress toward CPA certification.

Experience in medical device, precision manufacturing, or regulated manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.

Knowledge of overhead absorption and manufacturing cost structures.
