About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting smooth plant operations through equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The Maintenance Mechanic will apply strong mechanical skills, preventative maintenance knowledge, and problem-solving abilities to keep systems operating at peak performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment

  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production systems

  • Install, align, and adjust machinery components as needed for safe and efficient operation

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and quality requirements

  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions and optimize equipment performance

  • Assist in continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades

  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment in the maintenance shop and production floor

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing setting

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints

  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • Understanding of preventative maintenance practices and repair procedures

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Ability to lift, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions

  • Commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree, trade school training, or technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field

  • Experience with food manufacturing, packaging machinery, or high-speed production equipment

  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills

  • Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and basic electrical systems

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
