About the Role
The Controls Engineer/Programmer HVAC Systems is responsible for designing, programming, and integrating building automation and HVAC control systems to ensure energy efficiency, system reliability, and operational performance. This position requires deep technical expertise in HVAC principles, control logic, and system optimization. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with platforms such as Niagara Framework, BACnet, and Modbus, and a proven ability to work across both design and commissioning phases of building automation projects.
Responsibilities

Design and program HVAC control systems for commercial and industrial applications

Develop and maintain detailed documentation including control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and system submittals

Program and configure Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for building automation systems

Integrate HVAC control systems with third-party platforms including Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Siemens, and others

Conduct system commissioning, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure peak performance

Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project teams to align control solutions with HVAC design specifications

Analyze system performance and implement control strategies to enhance energy efficiency

Utilize IoT-enabled technologies to support predictive maintenance and remote system monitoring

Work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely project delivery

Provide technical support to sales and pre-sales teams for HVAC control system solutions
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC control systems engineering or programming

Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, energy management, and mechanical systems

Proficiency in Niagara Framework, BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other HVAC programming languages

Experience with third-party HVAC platforms including Trane, Honeywell, Siemens, or Johnson Controls

Familiarity with networking protocols and system integration over TCP/IP and Ethernet
-
Proficient in control system design tools such as AutoCAD or Revit
-
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and interface effectively with clients and cross-functional teams
Desired Qualifications

Niagara N4 Certification or equivalent technical certification

Experience with cloud-based building management systems and IoT technologies

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for building automation and control systems

Background in predictive maintenance using analytics platforms

Experience working in commercial, healthcare, or institutional building environments
Job Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: 8-hour shift
Work Environment: Combination of office and on-site fieldwork, including rooftops and mechanical rooms

Travel: Occasional travel to client sites for installation, commissioning, and support
