Operations Manager – Early Childhood Education

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Operations Manager to join our leadership team at a well-established, not-for-profit early childhood education centre in Auckland.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled operational leader who thrives in a varied role and enjoys balancing compliance, finance, health and safety, property management, enrolments, administration, and people support. Working closely with the Director and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and financially sustainable operation of our centre.
About the Role
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the organisation, enabling educational leaders to focus on delivering exceptional learning outcomes for children and whānau.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading operational systems and processes across the organisation
- Managing compliance with Ministry of Education regulations and licensing requirements
- Overseeing health and safety systems, risk management, and policy review
- Managing financial administration, payroll, budgeting support, and reporting
- Coordinating property maintenance, contractors, and facility improvements
- Managing enrolments, occupancy, and family engagement processes
- Overseeing ICT systems, digital platforms, and information management
- Supporting staff through mentoring, professional growth, and operational training
- Coordinating events, communications, newsletters, and website content
- Providing operational reporting and insights to senior leadership and governance
About You
You are a proactive, solutions-focused professional who enjoys creating systems that enable people and organisations to thrive.
You will bring:
- Experience in operations, business management, administration, or finance
- Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in a highly regulated environment
- Experience with financial systems, payroll processing, and budgeting
- Confidence using technology platforms, including cloud-based business systems
- Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A collaborative leadership style that supports and empowers others
- A commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth
Desirable Experience
- Experience within early childhood education, education, healthcare, or not-for-profit sectors
- Health and Safety leadership experience
- Experience leading administrative teams or business support functions
- Familiarity with enrolment management and funding systems
