Responsibilities will be added onto your plate with time and heaps of support and training.  You will not be thrown into the fire. This is a dreamy transition into management for the right candidate.

This beautiful, intimate, independent owned centre is located in the heart of the city with off-street parking and a big, open outdoor space. The centre prioritises supporting their staff in a meaningful way that fuels their passions. From ensuring there are plenty of opportunities for one-to-one time with the children, to empowering kaiako to spearhead their ideas for programming, pursuing professional development, etc.

The centre has low staff turnover and an amazing, diverse team.

About the role:

We are looking for someone to supervise the centre and lead this fantastic team. Its not quite as full-on as a centre manager, but you can certainly pick up more leadership responsibilities with time, when youre ready.  As a smaller, cosy centre, you will be empowered to shine your brightest and lead with authenticity.

Your focus will be on supporting your team and fostering meaningful relationships with the centre whanau and their gorgeous community.

The centre is mindful of the high burnout rate for centre managers; they strive to support in a way to prevent burnout however possible.

About you:

  • NZ trained or NZQA assessed and have full registration
  • Doesn't hesitate to change a few nappies, take out the rubbish or sweep the floor to help their team.
  • Has a warm approachable, yet professional presence, and will take great pride in representing the centre to whanau and our community.

  • Someone with flexibility to work a variety of shift times throughout the week.
  • Solution-based thinker. Takes initiative to get the job done.
  • Open-minded leader who empowers others and cares about hearing all perspectives on the team.
  • Although thorough training will be provided, you must feel confident in your foundational knowledge around internal evaluation, ECE regulations, and programme planning. 
  • Has the right to work and live in New Zealand. (This centre is NOT accredited)
