Job Details
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Regular inspection to be carried out during the build-up and tear down to aware the contractors with the health and safety Rules and regulation
- Create awareness on operational issues including health and safety the contractors and exhibitors during events & Ensure Contractors are complying with DWTC rules and regulations as well as government mandatory requirements
- Ensuring the appropriate paperwork is completed for all special risks in the venue
- Stand compliance check
- Liaise between different departments to ensure smooth operation for the Venue and Events.
- Ensure logistics operation is carried out as per the schedule
- Attend daily briefings and prepare documents as per the agenda
- Undertake the investigation of accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine the underlying causes. Report in detail to the Superintendent and complete the required report forms on a timely basis
- Completing and closing reports daily
- Demonstrate effective time management and a sense of urgency
- Demonstrate the ability to understand consequences and implications of activities and occurrences and the impact on relevant parties, and the action required
- Demonstrate lateral thinking and the ability to assess the collective impact on other events and activities happening simultaneously in and around the Venue and the implications for the Venues ability to service all its customers to the same level
- Reduce the risk of accidents occurring by pro-active monitoring and implementation of control measures
- Follow up on stand completion status and ensure that the halls are ready for the opening
- Carry out pre-opening checks
- Receive hand-over of all tasks to be undertaken overnight and report back the next day
- Implement any other duties as assigned by the Operation Manager and Senior Manager Venues Infrastructure and assist him in all operations matters
- Reports to Day Operations team with outstanding points that still need to be actioned. Highlight priorities, urgency and actions required
Operating Environment
- Due to the nature of the work, timings may be affected by the ongoing events, the job requires a lot of onsite presence throughout the venue and unsociable working hours (mostly evenings, weekends and public holidays) as per each events operational requirements
- Events are taking place mostly indoors however some elements may take place outdoor, and some events may take place in offsite venues managed by DEC. Meetings may also take place at clients premises
Formal Education
Diploma/High School
Work Experience
Minimum of 2-year experience in the event industry in an operational role
Skills & Knowledge
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Computer literacy essential
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and Email
- Knowledge of EBMS
- Report Writing
- IOSH certified
- Participated in trainings/workshops essential to event management including event planning & operations, project management, self-organisation and time management. This training will be conducted internally
