About the job Senior Data Engineer, Payments
The Company
One of the most recognized infrastructure companies in Web3, building the connectivity layer that sits beneath tens of millions of users, hundreds of wallets, and thousands of applications. Backed by a strong group of investors including names from e-commerce, stablecoin infrastructure, and crypto exchanges. The company has launched a payments product that is already live with major global partners and is now scaling into one of the most ambitious chapters in its history. Fully remote, globally distributed, high ownership culture.
The Role
Looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a small, focused data engineering team at a critical point in the platform's growth.
The company's payments product is live and scaling fast. The data systems that track, reconcile, and report on those payment flows need to be just as reliable as the payments themselves. Right now the foundations are in place. Your job is to take them to production grade.
This role is a strong fit if you have spent time at a fintech or payments company building systems that people and businesses depend on financially. If your experience sits mostly in reporting, analytics, or business intelligence, this is likely not the right match.
Location: Remote, Europe. Async first with regular in-person offsites.
Hiring Process: 4 steps
What You Will Do
- Build and run near real-time data pipelines that handle high volumes of payments and transaction data
- Take ownership of the data platform architecture as it moves from early stage to full production scale
- Work with transactional and ledger style data including settlement flows, merchant reporting, reconciliation, and fee tracking
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks that treat correctness as a hard requirement, not a best effort
- Build internal services and APIs that give other teams structured access to data
- Work closely with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to support new data needs as the business grows
- Help define engineering standards and write documentation that the team can actually use
What You Bring
- At least 5 years building and running data pipelines and data platforms in production environments
- Real experience with payments, fintech, or financial data systems. Reconciliation, settlement, ledger data, or merchant reporting. Not optional
- Solid hands-on experience with near real-time or event driven data architectures at meaningful transaction volumes
- Strong SQL and Python. Production level, not prototype level
- Experience with tools like Airflow, dbt, ClickHouse, BigQuery, or Snowflake in real production environments
- A track record of owning systems end to end including what happens when they go wrong
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, async team without needing a lot of structural support
Nice to Have
- Experience at a startup or scale-up where you shaped the data architecture rather than inheriting it
- Background in backend engineering or building data APIs alongside pipelines
- Familiarity with on-chain or blockchain transaction data
- Any exposure to Rust or interest in picking it up
The Package
- 110K to 130K USD per year depending on experience
- Equity and potential token upside
- Home office or coworking budget
- Regular international team offsites
- Generous PTO and parental leave
- Learning and development budget
