Position Title: Assistant Manager - Purchasing
Working day: Monday to Friday, 830am - 5:30pm
Work Location: Cheras, KL
Salary range: up to RM6,000
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to achieve cost efficiency, quality standards, and on-time delivery targets.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for materials, trims, accessories, and footwear items.
- Oversee and manage Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely fulfilment.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company SOPs, documentation standards, and audit requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate closely with Production and Warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
- Manage and control purchasing budgets, while supporting cost-saving and value-improvement initiatives.
- Review and evaluate supplier performance, maintaining accurate and up-to-date vendor records.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, and proactively resolve delivery, quality, or supply issues.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Warehouse, and Accounts to support operational and business needs.
- Lead, guide, and supervise the purchasing team, providing training, performance guidance, and decision support.
Job Requirements
- Minimum qualification of a Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related study.
- At least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in purchasing, procurement, or sourcing roles.
- Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia
- Experience in the apparel, accessories, and footwear industry will be a strong added advantage.
- Exposure to vendor management, cost negotiation, inventory planning, and contract administration is preferred.
- Prior experience leading or supervising junior purchasing staff will be an added advantage.
