Role Overview
The Finance Manager will oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for the scaffolding subsidiary, which operates a mixed business model of rental and sales. This role plays a critical part in financial reporting, cash flow management, cost control, and supporting business decisions, while ensuring compliance with statutory and group requirements.
Reports to: Finance Director
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage full set of accounts, including AP, AR, GL, and monthly/quarterly/year-end closing.
- Prepare accurate and timely management reports, financial statements, and analysis for Finance Director and Group.
- Ensure compliance with MFRS, statutory requirements, tax regulations, and audit standards.
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and liaise with auditors, tax agents, and company secretary.
Business & Operational Finance
- Monitor and analyse profitability of rental vs sales operations, including asset utilisation, margins, and cost structures.
- Oversee revenue recognition for rental contracts and sales transactions.
- Manage CAPEX tracking for scaffolding assets and ensure proper asset capitalisation and depreciation.
- Support pricing, contract review, and commercial decisions with financial analysis.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting exercises.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, inventory, and receivables, especially for project-based customers.
- Improve cash collection cycles and credit control processes.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthen internal controls, SOPs, and financial governance across operations.
- Improve finance processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Support system enhancements or ERP implementation if applicable.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Manage and guide finance team members.
- Work closely with operations, sales, and management to support business growth.
- Provide finance insights and recommendations to Finance Director and management.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant finance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in construction, scaffolding, rental, trading, or project-based businesses is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of rental accounting, inventory, fixed assets, and project costing.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an operational environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Occasional travel requires.
