Are you an experienced Software Architect who wants to shape technology beyond a single product, application or engineering team?
We are supporting a global industrial technology leader looking for an accomplished IIoT Software Architect to play an influential role in the continued evolution of a major Industrial Internet of Things ecosystem.
You will work across an established digital engineering organisation of around 200 specialists and 12 agile squads, helping create alignment across an ecosystem combining software, Edge, connectivity, Cloud and hybrid technologies.
What you will be doing:
Shaping the long-term architecture and technical direction of a large-scale IIoT ecosystem
Connecting the architectural dots across Edge, connectivity, Cloud and hybrid solutions
Working with product and engineering stakeholders to turn business requirements into sustainable technical approaches
Evaluating architectural options and driving pragmatic technology decisions
Establishing common principles and standards across APIs, integrations and software architecture
Ensuring scalability, security, reliability and maintainability remain central to platform evolution
Identifying architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt before they become blockers
Supporting important architecture reviews and challenging technical decisions where appropriate
Working across multiple agile engineering teams to improve consistency and interoperability
Acting as a trusted technical sparring partner and mentor to architects, technical leads and experienced engineers
What we are looking for:
We are interested in people who have already operated at a senior architectural or technical leadership level within complex software environments.
Your background could include positions such as Software Architect, Platform Architect, Principal Engineer or Enterprise Architect.
Ideally, you will bring:
Strong experience designing complex and distributed software architectures
Experience with IIoT, IoT, connected systems or similarly complex technology ecosystems
Strong understanding of distributed systems and modern software engineering principles
Knowledge of connectivity, APIs and integration architectures
Good understanding of modern data architectures
Strong awareness of security within platform and software design
Experience working with Cloud and Edge technologies as part of a wider architecture
Understanding of DevOps and SRE principles for building reliable production systems
Experience defining architectural standards and guiding engineering teams
Ability to assess technical trade-offs and make pragmatic, long-term decisions
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to influence experienced technical teams without relying on formal authority
